About Us

Our Motto: “Vigilance and Integrity.”

In the six years that J. Bowlin Security has been in business, we have grown by adding services and employees. We have been providing protection for medical facilities, manufacturing, retail, HOA’s, large events, and private parties.

Started in 2000 by Daniel Flores, on January 1st, 2018, Flores Security was purchased by James W. Bowlin and his wife Amy from Daniel Flores and his son. The company was rebranded as J. Bowlin Security and continues to be founded on morals, ethics, and integrity, both to the profession and to the clients they serve and maintain.

James Bowlin is a native of Kerrville, graduating from Tivy High School in 1988, USMC Veteran of Desert Shield/Storm. Upon leaving the Marines, he attended Southwest Texas State University, majoring in Criminal Justice, and attended the TEEX Police Academy in College Station. While there he met Amy, who was a manager for SAM’s Wholesale. After graduation, they moved back to Kerrville where James began his law enforcement career and Amy with Ingram ISO in as an Administrative Assistant in Special Education. While a KPD Officer, James was a Background Investigator, Crisis Negotiator, Field Training Officer, K-9 Handler, SOU Operator, and Sergeant, supervising a patrol shift until retirement in December of 2017.



Emily Bowlin | Mounted Security

Emily Bowlin is the daughter of James and Amy. Emily’s love for horses took her to Tarleton State earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science. Emily began working for the family business as an armed guard and is now developing the Mounted Patrol Division of J Bowlin Security.



Brian Blackburn | Operations Manager & Training Facilitator

Brian Blackburn was born and raised in Northern Virginia and after graduating from high school, enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served as an Infantry squad leader. Upon Brian’s separation from the military, he moved to family property close to the town of Hunt, Texas and attended the AACOG regional police academy. Brian began his 20-year law enforcement career with the Kerr County Sheriff’s Office and retired as the Lieutenant of the Ingram Police Department in December of 2020.

Brian is a TCOLE Master Peace Officer and holds numerous instructor certifications, to include a TCOLE certified firearms instructor, NRA certified firearms instructor and a Private Security firearms instructor. During his career, Brian has served as a patrol officer, investigator, shift supervisor, SWAT team member, designated marksman and member of his department’s command staff and training unit. Brian now serves as the Operations Manager of J. Bowlin Security.

Breanna graduated from Ingram ISD and attended MT. San Jacinto Community College. Breanna is married and has two beautiful daughters. She is very active in the community and in her church with her girls. She has been with JBS for 3 years and is the voice of the company.
